@everton Acho que peguei o jeito pra fazer as descrições de imagem no WordPress
Primeiro precisa subir a imagem na galeria e preencher o campo "texto alternativo", e só depois selecionar e incluir a imagem no post
Se subir a imagem diretamente no post não tem a opção de texto alternativo, só dá pra pôr legenda da imagem. Daí a legenda aparece no conteúdo do post e a imagem fica sem descrição
